BOROUGH ZONING & CODES ENFORCEMENT
The Borough's Zoning Officer and Codes Enforcement Officer is Willard Ziesemer. Mr. Ziesemer has an office within the Borough Office located at 304 S. State Street in Clarks Summit. Mr. Ziesemer's Assistant is James (Doc) Doherty, available at the same phone number.
ROLE/DUTIES OF THE ZONING/CODES ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
The responsibilities of the Borough's Zoning Officer are defined by state law and the Borough's Zoning Ordinance. The responsibilities of the Borough's Codes Enforcement Officer are defined by several Borough Ordinances. The role /duties/responsibilities of the Code Enforcement Office include, but not limited to, physical review of conditions in the field as well as providing assistance to homeowners, tenants, and the business community in understanding related laws and regulations. The Code Enforcement Officer will also issue violation notices and respond to citizen complaints and inquiries. Permits and zoning issues will be handled by the Codes Enforcement Officer as well.
BOROUGH CODES
The following National Codes have been adopted by Borough Ordinance and are in effect. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has enacted legislation, which has been signed by Governor Ridge, to provide a state-wide Building Code. This new Building Code, once the regulations are adopted by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, will be adopted by the Borough, in the form of an Ordinance Amendment.
The Borough of Clarks Summit has never adopted a National Mechanical Code (HVAC).
