of Clarks Summit will be 100 years old on August 30, 2011! There will be a celebration the weekend of 8/26/11 - 8/28/11. There will also be a celebration almost every month!
We are looking for individuals who would like to serve on a Centennial Steering Committee to come up with ideas for our celebration. Please contact Virginia Kehoe, Borough Manager, to add your name and contact information to this committee. You can email her at clarksmt@epix.net or call 585-4800.
MEETINGS The meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Clarks Summit Borough Building at 7:00PM. UPCOMING EVENTS The Abington Community Library, under the direction of volunteers Dennis and Sharleen Martin, will be conducting an Oral History of Clarks Summit in anticipation of the 100th Anniversary Celebration. Interviews will be held at the library, by appointment, with anyone who wishes to share their recollections of life in the Summit. Details will be announced at a later date. The theme of the 2011 Ice Festival will be the centennial!
The Centennial Steering Committee is requesting members of each school year for Abington Heights School District to contact us so we can have representatives for each year at our ceremony.
The Centennial Steering Committee is requesting the "oldest people in the Borough" contact them. They would love to invite the oldest man and woman to join them at the celebration.
The Centennial Steering Committee is asking the local churches to research their history for our celebration.
