|Shade Tree Commission|
Council established the Clarks Summit Shade Tree Commission on August 3,
Committee members are Donna Zagrapan, Steve Guza, Lori Jewett, and Molly Philbin.
The Commission's purpose is to promote the public's health, safety and welfare by the regulation of removal, planting, and preservation of trees. Preserving trees enhances the natural beauty of the environment, increases property values, moderates storm water runoff, reduces erosion, lessens air pollution, reduces noise, and moderates air temperature.
The objectives of the Clarks Summit Shade Tree Commission are: 1) Advise Borough Council on urban forestry matters. 2) Identify sources of funds, such as grants, to improve the quality of the downtown and residential trees. 3) Provide public awareness of the value of healthy trees and the hazards of diseased trees. 4) Look for innovative ways to obtain assistance through the use of volunteers such as Boy and Girl Scouts, school programs and concerned citizens.
Shade Tree Commission public meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00PM in the Borough Building. All Clarks Summit residents are invited to attend.
